4th Year Section Aguinaldo - JJLHS Batch 80'

Thirty (30 ) years ago those residing from Project 8, GSIS Village, Bago Bantay, San Franciso Del Monte, in Quezon City, used to study in this school. There were actually two public secondary school in the vicinity, the Sergio OsmeƱa High School, located across the bridge in Del Monte Avenue which caters to the students from San Francisco Del Monte up to La Loma area and the Judge Juan Luna High School (JJLHS), the one I am referring to.

Today, it was alleged that those enrolled in JJLHS are only those residing within the San Francisco Del Monte Area or maybe up to Bago Bantay, maybe because the public school educational system of today are limiting acceptance of students within their territorial jurisdiction due to over population and lack of funds. Unlike those days when the public school educational system enjoys a certain degree of quality, which equals to and even surpasses education being offered by private schools - we enjoy eight hours a day of studying and many activities, Home Economics, CAT, Elective, Music and Arts, among others, with only about 40 to a little less than 60 students per section. I cannot recall how many sections we were then, maybe four or more.

The quality of education then in the public school system is higher as compared today. This is evident by the fact that the products of the system, specifically the graduates of JJLHS Batch 80', are now doing well locally or internationally. Many among us are now working abroad, those remained landed on jobs which enjoys a certain degree of stability and positions with responsibilities, some are engaged in private enterprise. Today, we are not fully aware of the products of the school we once considered our second home. A school which was once a part of our life. Old flames, friends and classmates, memories full of fun. How about the students of today?

I guess it is and must also be part of our social responsibility to look back from where we started and to find ways to help those left behind. If not us . . . who then?  "THE JJLHS BATCH 80" Section Aguinaldo.
